Dr. Shannon Bader is a clinical and forensic psychologist licensed in New Hampshire and Vermont. She is one of only five psychologists board certified in forensic psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). She is the current president of the American Academy of Forensic Psychology (AAFP). Dr. Bader provides clinical and forensic evaluations and expert testimony for adults involved in criminal and civil court cases.

Dr. Bader is an independent evaluator and consultant. Consistent with the best practices in the field of forensic psychology, conclusions and opinions offered are based on a thorough review of pertinent records, analysis of psychological assessment tools, and clinical interviews.

On a limited basis, Dr. Bader is available for case consultation. This could include case analysis, written summaries of current psychological research on various mental health topics, aggression, or ethical issues, work product reviews with analysis of psychological testing, and assistance preparing direct or cross-examination questions of expert witnesses.

Dr. Bader has been qualified as an expert witness in all New Hampshire Superior Courts and District Courts.

Dr. Bader graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in psychology before entering the clinical psychology graduate program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, one of the first and most respected forensic psychology programs in the nation. She completed her internship and postdoctoral training at Patton State Hospital in Southern California. Dr. Bader remained at Patton State Hospital providing treatment to individuals found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity and deemed Mentally Disordered Offenders for two years before being promoted to the California Department of State Hospitals’ Forensic Evaluations Department. There, Dr. Bader conducted court ordered evaluations, often of high profile or contentious cases. In 2013, Dr. Bader became one of the California Department of State Hospitals’ founding members of the Analytics and Research Team developing risk assessment strategies, risk management tools and policies for all the state forensic and psychiatric hospitals. During this period, Dr. Bader also specialized in the assessment and treatment of individuals convicted of sexual offenses, earning the California Certificate of Sex Offender Treatment Providers.

After moving to New England in 2015, Dr. Bader became the chief of the New Hampshire Office of the Forensic Examiner. In this role she coordinated court ordered criminal evaluations throughout the state, supervised five psychologists, and provided expert testimony. Additionally, she served as a liaison to the Attorney General’s Office, provided trainings to the public defender program, and served as a core committee member for the Superior Court’s statewide competency evaluation workgroup. From 2016-2019, Dr. Bader sat on the New Hampshire Psychological Association’s Board of Directors.

In addition to providing psychological assessments for the courts, Dr. Bader has taught undergraduate and doctoral students at various schools, including Scripps College, Azuza Pacific University, and California State University. She has repeatedly presented at national conferences and published over seven first author journal articles related to psychological assessment in the forensic realm. Dr. Bader became board certified in forensic psychology in 2014.  In 2019 she was elected by her peers to a national leadership role and currently serves on the American Academy of Forensic Psychology’s Board of Directors.
